Independent brands at Milan Fashion Week do not simply present collections — they trace a collective narrative made of aesthetics, research, and identity.
Artribune reviews the FW25 independent brand shows, identifying three major themes across the season: the dialogue between fashion and art, travel as physical and mental experience, and memory as a creative root and tool for evolution.
On Florania:
"Florania, with the collection As Above, So Below, transported the audience into a surreal universe, drawing inspiration from icons of surrealism such as Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, and Leonor Fini. The brand, rooted in experimentation and upcycling, transformed recovered materials into pieces that seem to emerge from a visionary painting — hand-painted prints in watercolour and ink, and textile manipulations."
