HARPER'S BAZAAR ITALIA

by Margherita Meda — Harper's Bazaar Italia, February 2026

If we are all one, you can't hurt me is not a slogan. It is a thought that repeats like a mantra — an act of protection in a time when the gaze of others weighs heavily and social division becomes a wound.

Flora Rabitti, founder and creative director of Florania, speaks to Harper's Bazaar Italia about the making of her Fall/Winter 2026 collection.

What was the first inspiration for the collection?

"The collection was born as a deep reflection on the manufacturing world and on matter itself. Being a fully circular brand, the starting point is always the material — what already exists, what has been discarded, what carries a story. A key moment was visiting the Dirty Looks exhibition at the Barbican Centre, where the concept of 'dirt' is reread as value, as possibility. From there came the idea of working with industrial remnants and pre-existing materials, bringing them toward an almost couture dimension."

What was the first piece you created?

"The green dress. It was the first piece where I worked directly with my hands — not just in the drawing or the fabric design, but in the actual construction. When I make a piece myself, I can insert many more details, many more experiential elements. That is where the ennoblement of matter becomes real: haute couture techniques applied to recovered materials."

What were the biggest challenges?

"Without a doubt, working with leather. It is the first time we have applied our techniques to this material. Our main partner was Linea Pelle, who provided luxury leathers. The process took much longer than expected — but the result is exceeding our initial expectations."

How did you approach material sourcing?

"Beyond Linea Pelle, we collaborated with Zero, which provides certified deadstock from luxury brands. The challenge was finding existing leathers, respecting the brand's ethics, and maintaining an extremely high quality level. It is a delicate balance, but a necessary one."

What is the deep story behind this collection?

"The inspiration begins with textile manipulation — a central language of the brand — but then evolves. The title itself, If we are all one, you can't hurt, is fundamental. I was coming out of a personal break-up, and this phrase became almost a philosophical maxim: if we reduce separations — in fashion, in work, in relationships — respect for ourselves and others increases. The pain diminishes. It is a thought that allowed me to keep believing in circularity and ethical craft."

Two words to describe the collection?

"Chorality and collaboration. It was a collective creation, the result of the work and commitment of many people."
